3-Days of Cambodia, Phnom Penh

• Recent political changes have triggered an economic boom, with new hotels, restaurants, bars and nightclubs springing up across the city.

Morning: Visit the Royal Palace (built in 1866), a stunning example of Khmer-style architecture, and explore the nearby Silver Pagoda, home to the Emerald Buddha. Then, head to the Independence Monument, commemorating Cambodia's freedom from French rule in 1954.

Afternoon: Discover Cambodia's tragic past at the Toul Sleng Genocide Museum (S21), a former school turned Khmer Rouge prison. Continue to the Killing Fields, a memorial site where victims of the regime were executed, now a serene place of reflection.
